Role Summary: The Junior Commodities Analyst assists with scheduling, invoicing, and financial analysis for natural gas, electricity, and solar projects. The role supports fuel scheduling, vendor invoicing, and helps produce and reconcile financial statements and solar project cost and expense data. The ideal candidate is energized by data, deadlines, and cross-functional collaboration, with a fundamental understanding of energy markets and the solar industry.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

 

Scheduling & Operations

  • Assist in daily scheduling and confirmation for natural gas, electricity, and solar-related products.
  • Maintain accurate records of scheduling activities, confirmations, and related communications among stakeholders such as utilities, regulatory boards, pipeline companies, independent system operators, vendors, etc.

Invoicing, Cost Management, Financial Statements & Analysis

  • Review, reconcile, and analyze vendor supply and transportation invoices for gas, power, and solar projects.
  • Support preparation of monthly/quarterly financial statements and management reporting for gas, power, and solar activities.
  • Assist with cost tracking, project accounting, and compiling data for income statements, and cash flow statements related to energy procurement, solar installations, and SG&A expenses.

Solar-Specific Responsibilities

  • Familiarize with solar system installation invoices, project milestones, and interconnection costs.
  • Cooperate with the Solar team to track solar project milestones.

Data & Compliance

  • Maintain clean, auditable data sets in Excel and internal systems.
  • Assist with regulatory filings, tariff monitoring, and industry standards relevant to gas, power, and solar.
  • Support internal controls and documentation required for internal/external audits.

Reporting & Communication

  • Prepare routine reports for internal stakeholders and assist in ad-hoc analysis as needed.
  • Communicate clearly with suppliers, vendors, and cross-functional teams to resolve discrepancies and confirm data accuracy.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in statistics, mathematics, economics, data analysis, energy policy, finance, or a related field; or working towards.

Experience: Exposure to the energy markets and/or renewable industry is a plus.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in MS Excel (advanced functions, modeling, data validation, etc.).
  • Familiarity with financial modeling and basic accounting concepts.

Industry Knowledge: Understanding of natural gas, electric power, and solar.

Personal Attributes: Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational abilities, and deadline discipline.

Analytical Skills: Demonstrated problem-solving, data analysis, and critical thinking skills.

Communication: Clear written and verbal communication; comfortable collaborating with cross-functional teams.
